About Pirates of the Burning Sea

Plunge into the high stakes world of 18th Century seafaring with Pirates of the Burning Sea. Set against the backdrop of the New World, this MMORPG allows players to skillfully navigate both land and sea as English, French, or Spanish captains or sail under the black flag as a member of the Brethren of the Coast - a pirate. Successfully engage in tactical ship combat, swashbuckling adventures and cutthroat economics to advance in each career path. Loyal nationals strive to master navigational skills as Naval Officers, Privateers or Freetraders. Pirates terrorize the seas as manipulative Buccaneers or brutal Cutthroats.

Players hone their fighting skills by training in classic Fencing, flashy Florentine, or Dirty Fighting styles and develop specialized corresponding moves. These skills come in handy when forced to engage in one-on-one duels that test the skill, balance and mastery of each player. On the seas, players engage in fierce ship-to-ship battles with real time combat in customizable, historically inspired ships. Against the deafening cannons and choppy waters, players try to out maneuver their opponents, board, and take control of enemy vessels.

Pirates of the Burning Sea features a player run economy, where captains can forge their own empires across the Caribbean. By building quarries, distilling rum (to boost morale) or managing large scale production and distribution, players contribute to the high-stakes world of commerce. In a place where profits are the dream and desperate measures the reality, it's no wonder pirates live by the maxim "dead men tell no tales." With rich user created content, epic missions and stunning graphics, Pirates of the Burning Sea satisfies every adventurer.

Yarr, thar be tweetin'.

I've just set up a Twitter feed so that I can interact with users of the site in a smaller, more informal way. Perhaps you'd care to follow @PotBSCompanion - there isn't much on there at the moment but I'll get it sorted..!

I'm still working on updates when I can - essentially, I'm rebuilding the entire site, the original one was built in a bit of a hurry and without too much planning or thought for design (I'm a programmer, not an artist), and I have a better system to put everything nice and ordered and easier to work on - I just have to convert all the pages. I'm going to try and post some in-progress screens to the afore mentioned Twitter page.

On another note - Thanks to everyone who helped with the survey. I wanted to make sure that the time I was spending was going to go into the right areas.

New Ship Added - Centurion

I've just been alerted to another new ship appearing in game, the Centurion 3rd Rate. I've added it to the database but it needs filling in with pictures and its stats. To edit content in the database, log into your account (or create one for free) and you'll see an edit button.

San Fernando & Updates soon - I promise!

I've been made aware of a new ship, the San Fernando which you can get from the Treasure Aisle and was introduced in October/November.

I've added it to the listings, but at the moment it has no stats.... Perhaps someone would be community minded enough to fill in the details?

I know I keep saying this, but major site updates are on the way! Hopefully I will get to finish them off over the Christmas break and get them up and running in time for 2012.

The site is now 3 years old and the changes I have should bring things right up to date...!



Time Flies!

I just wanted to write a quick entry because i'm aware that I've not been posting regularly.

I'm still working on new features and new styling for the site when I get the time, but real work has to come first or I don't eat :-)

In the meantime, you may have noticed I added a Facebook like box and a Google plus box to the top of the main page. It'd be awesome if you thought the site worthy of being liked or plussed.

I'll try and update more later!
